    Marjorie Hyes was born in 1913 and studied atthe Royal College of Art in the 1930's, daughter of the artist Albert Hayes.  She excelled in the design of clothes and handicrafts and established her own commercial design and bespoke clothes business.  She contributed regularly to Queen Magazine, illustrated children's books and produced designs for advertising.  She exhibited over 40 works at the Society of Women Artists between 1936 and 1972, and at the Royal Insititute and Royal Acadmey.
